Why I’m Moving My Essays to Substack

Over time, I’ve realised that the kind of writing I want to do, the kind that explores leadership, culture, responsibility, and the messy reality of how systems actually function, needs a different home.

Most platforms reward speed, reaction, and certainty. But the work I’m interested in sits somewhere else, slower, more honest, and closer to how leadership actually feels when you are responsible for outcomes, not commentary.

Substack gives me the space to write without compressing ideas into social media fragments, without chasing algorithms, and without reducing complex leadership realities into slogans.

Going forward, my long-form essays will live there.

The latest piece explores something I see playing out across organisations, communities, and sporting clubs: what it really costs to be the adult in the room when values collide, when pressure builds, and when someone has to make the decision that doesn’t make everyone happy, but keeps the system intact.

If you care about leadership beyond theory, and about the real work of holding environments together when it matters most, that’s where you’ll find it.
